BERLIN DEEP DIVE WORKSHOP #2, 13.-14.09.2016
Smart tree planting designs as storm water storage on roads, a crowd-mapping platform to identify mobility needs for bike sharing, and incentive schemes to encourage local businesses to undertake energy efficiency audits – these are some of the outcomes of the second deep dive workshop for Berlin-Moabit organized by TU Berlin. The workshop connected the work done by SSD opportunity leads (water, energy, mobility + public participation and data) with around 20 local stakeholders, including start-ups and local businesses, utility companies as well as district and city authorities.
The first day kicked off with an internal session focused on understanding the benefits offered by two innovative tools, the „Smart District Data Infrastructure“ (SDDI) and the Virtual District Model (VDM), which act as a shared data repository and communication tool for individual use cases in the district. The second day included simultaneous work sessions for each opportunity joined by local implementation partners to discuss and define a roadmap, identify integration potential as well as future funding streams for implementation in 2017 and beyond. The team also presented the work of SSD at the Moabit Energy Day on September 13th. The event is the annual meeting place of local businesses, neighbourhood initiatives and start-ups to exchange around smart energy projects in the district.
